University of Kansas School of Nursing (BSN):"The Bachelor of Science in Nursing is designed
to prepare graduates for professional nursing
practice in hospitals and other health care
agencies. Online RN-BSN. The RN-BSN degree
completion program provides registered nurses
a way to complete their bachelor's degrees
as quickly as possible.
RN-BSN/MS. Registered nurses earn both a
bachelor of science in nursing degree and
a master of science in nursing degree."
University of Kentucky College of Nursing
(BSN, MSN, PhD):"Reacting to warnings that Kentucky would
face a serious shortage of medical caregivers
in the near future if something were not
done immediately, state legislators authorized
the construction of a medical center at
the University in 1956. In 1957, there were
13 schools of nursing in Kentucky, but together
they only graduated 297 new nurses, not nearly
enough to satisfy the rising demand. Of these
13, only one offered a bachelor's degree
- the rest only offered hospital diploma
programs. To help satisfy the demand, the
UK College of Nursing would offer two tracks:
one for recent high school graduates, and
the other for registered nurses who needed
additional education to advance their careers."
University of Louisiana at Lafayette / College
of Nursing (BSN, MSN):"At the University of Louisiana at Lafayette,
our mission is to prepare students to assume
leadership roles in the advancement of the
practice of nursing and to be responsive
to the needs of culturally diverse consumers
of health care. The degrees offered by the
college include a bachelors of science in
nursing (BSN), a masters of science in nursing
(MSN), and a bachelors of science in dental
hygiene (BS), which is a joint degree in
affiliation with the School of Dentistry
at Louisiana State University Health Science
Center. At the undergraduate level, we offer
the Mobility In Nursing Education (MINE)
track, designed for RNs and LPNs. A fast-track
program for second degree seeking students
is also offered at the undergraduate level."
The University of Louisiana at Monroe / College
of Nursing (BSN):"The School of Nursing at The University of
Louisiana at Monroe is located in the Nursing
building, directly across University Avenue
from the Administration building. The four-year
baccalaureate curriculum offers a pre-nursing
segment and a professional nursing segment."
University of Louisville / Nursing School(BSN,
MSN, PhD):"The U of L School of Nursing offers a diverse
selection of programs: undergraduate, master's
and PhD programs. Located in the heart of
a thriving health sciences center, students
at the school learn the latest medical advances
and train in a highly innovative environment."
University of Maine / School of Nursing (BSN,
MSN):"The School of Nursing was established in
the fall of 1958 at the University of Maine.
Both undergraduate and graduate programs
are fully accreditated by Commission on Collegiate
Nursing Education (CCNE). The School was
the first in Maine to offer a four-year baccalaureate
nursing degree. The Bachelor of Science in
Nursing degree is built on a firm foundation
of liberal arts and physical and social sciences.
The nursing undergraduate curriculum is uniquely
combined with the liberal arts necessary
to enhance the quality of each student's
life. As a designated Professional Nursing
Education (PNE) school, UMaine is now one
of the only 42 universities across the nation
that can guarantee Four and Three Year ROTC
Scholarships to nurses. The faculty in the
School of Nursing emphasize teaching, working
closely with each student to ensure the best
possible learning experience. All faculty
are involved in disciplinary and interdisciplinary
research activities. The School of Nursing
is philosophically consistent with the University
of Maine's mission to be the state's center
for learning, discovery, and service to the
public. Simultaneously, the faculty and students
of the School serve as a vital resource to
the people of Maine. Graduates of the School's
Rural Family Nurse Practitioner Program receive
a Master of Science degree."
University of Maine at Augusta / Division
of Nursing Education (ASN):"The Associate of Science in Nursing major
is designed to prepare graduates to function
in a structured health care setting. For
more information on career opportunities
in Nursing see From College to Career in
Nursing. Upon completion of the program,
graduates are eligible to take the N-CLEX-RN
exam for licensure as a registered nurse.
This program is approved by the Maine State
Board of Nursing and is fully accredited
by the National League of Nursing."
University of Maine at Fort Kent / Division
of Nursing (BSN):"The University of Maine at Fort Kent recognizes
the need and desirability for registered
nurses to attain a baccalaureate degree.
For students who have earned their RN licenses,
an RN-upgrade Studies Option is offered.
Students qualifying for this option must
complete the Prerequisite Courses for the
Nursing Major as well as the courses under
the RN Studies Option. For those students
who completed an ADN program from a regionally
accredited and state board of nursing approved
school of nursing within the past ten years,
a block of 29 basic nursing credits is awarded
to replace the clinical courses in the Nursing
Major."
University of Mary / Division of Nursing
(BSN, MSN):"The division of nursing traces its beginnings
to St. Alexius Hospital School of Nursing,
founded in 1915. The first nursing students
to receive baccalaureate degrees from Mary
College graduated in 1964. In 1984, a program
of graduate study was initiated. Both the
baccalaureate and graduate programs are approved
by the North Dakota Board of Nursing and
accredited by North Central Association of
Colleges and Universities and the Commission
of Collegiate Nursing Education." *****************************************************
University of Mary Hardin - Baylor / School
of Nursing (BSN):"The Scott and White College of Nursing has
as its purpose the preparation of Baccalaureate
nurses who function in a diverse arena of
health care environments. A liberal arts
foundation and designated pre-requisite courses
support the nursing curriculum. Professional
principles and Christian values guide the
teaching-learning process as well as the
relationship between faculty and students."
